Our General Music program provides many interesting and challenging musical experiences. These include activities with our MIDI computer/keyboard lab and also with traditional instruments such as the acoustic guitar.
In Sixth Grade we study famous composers, music theory, singing, guitar, piano keyboard and drum pad.
Seventh and Eighth Grade students are expanding on previously learned skills and improving their musical decision making by completing projects. One group project involves creating a musical jingle for a commercial. Researching an area of the United States and it's music is another group project.
Technology is a big part of our program. Students use Microsoft Word and PowerPoint, Band in the Box and Music Time software. Research is done on the internet, using Encarta and also print materials.
By providing opportunities to create, critique, perform and listen, we encourage our student's musical development.
